Jamie Thompson

Hello.
I'm Jamie Thompson, a design engineer who cares about easing curves, color ramps, and frontend craft the way some people care about sports.

I've spent my career owning the finish layer — visual and interactive details — of products, and building design systems from the ground up that hold the bar for a team.

Right now that's Lacquer, a design system for finished AI-generated UI. Every component has a written contract, is built from that contract, graded against it before it ships, and regraded by CI on every PR after.

The background of this page is the other kind of thing I make. It's a field of code drawn on the GPU: 25 fps while the light moves, 60 fps when you click, none once you leave it alone. I wrote up how.

I also design interiors. Different material, same job. Have a point of view and carry it all the way to the finish.

Nice to meet you.
